Firefox cracks 20% market share for the first time, Google drops IE 6 support and IE — in all its nasty flavors — drops below 70%.

Net Applications reports that the open source Firefox browser cracked the 20% market share barrier while Microsoft’s Internet Explorer’s share fell below 70% for the first time in eight years.

Meanwhile, Google announced they’ll no longer support that bane of every developer’s existence, IE 6. The Google, of course, wants you to adopt their recently released Chrome browser but offers links to both Chrome and Firefox downloads when detecting IE 6 users on YouTube or using their applications.

With thousands of small to medium sized business using Google apps, and Firefox picking up two out of three browser users that leave Microsoft, the trend looks to continue.
