Hyper-local news service outside.in announced a $2 million round of financing Monday. This comes on top of $5.5 million raised previously from the likes of Marc Andreessen, Esther Dyson and Union Square Ventures. The Brooklyn-based start-up maps and aggregates news at a neighborhood level, giving readers access to information un(der)reported by metro dailies, and local advertisers access to those readers. With recent investment in the micro-blogging platform Tumblr, and everyone atwitter about Twitter, we’re thinking there’s a growing trend towards the small fries.
